Social

Shared value
creation

Our social action strategy was designed as a harmonious movement, respecting the competitive advantages, vocations and talents of each region where we operate.

The applied model seeks to be a catalyst for social and economic initiatives that can contribute to improving education, public management, and the economic development of municipalities, generating production chains that foster local entrepreneurship.

Today, our Social Action program covers five investment axes, the first three of which are supported by the Votorantim Institute:

Encouraging sustainable development through the ReDes Program

Local development through Public Management Support (PMS)

Contribution to public education in the municipalities where our companies are located through the Partnership that Values Education (PVE)

Partnerships aimed at a positive impact to the community through the engagement of local and regional people and institutions

Involvement of the internal team in the construction of the social planning of the companies in the portfolio

Environmental

Forest as a business

Within our management model, we seek to evaluate the wealth of biodiversity within our managed reserves to outline the best strategies that combine forest conservation with revenue generation and shared value creation.

Native Plants Production

We have the objective of taking the native forest back to urban centers. To achieve this, we rely on the Biodiversity Centers of the reserves we manage, with a production capacity of 400,000 plants per year. Production of species from the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado focuses on landscaping and reforestation. We seek to reconnect people to nature, contributing to mitigating climate change and reducing the risks of biodiversity loss. In addition, we are also committed to the relationship between carbon and biodiversity. At Legado das Águas and Legado Verdes do Cerrado, we added 63 thousand hectares of preserved native forest, sequestering 20 million tons of carbon.

Biotechnology

In our business model, we map the wealth of biodiversity of the reserves we manage through scientific research, and, combined with biotechnology, we identify the potential of the forest to generate active ingredients for medicines, fragrances, and flavors for cosmetics and food industries.

Scientific Research

We understand that conservation is made possible as the value of the forest is increasingly perceived and guaranteed in the long term. Therefore, we aim to promote scientific research in the reserves we manage since it is the key evaluatingthe richness of local biodiversity and outlining conservation strategies, generating public knowledge for the whole society.

Governance

Integrating people,
business, and nature

Annually, we hold the Diálogos, the Encontro Técnico, and the Semear, events focused on sharing information with our stakeholders, as we believe in the importance of maintaining dialogue with civil society, the government, and our partners, to share the main results of our research, social projects and economic development carried out in the areas we operate.

Internally, divided among our companies, we have a team of more than 150 employees from multiple backgrounds, such as agronomists, administrators, lawyers, journalists, tourism professionals, biologists, among others, who form a multidisciplinary team capable of offering the best solutions in sustainability.

We also have a Supervisory Board whose objective is to identify, discuss and ensure the dissemination of the company’s values and principles, to define strategies, and make decisions that protect and enhance our organization, optimizing the return on investment in the long term and to seek a balance for stakeholder expectations.
